Visiting the small town of Taunton
This small town of 139 people doesn't have much to do, but we were SUPER excited to be there. We have been talking for 2 months about visiting Oma's Mommy in Minnesota. We pulled in just in time for dinner at Grandma's. She was so happy to see us. The boys ran straight in the house and quickly felt right at home. Aunt Linda (who lives two houses down from Grandma) came by to say hello too. Monday morning we got right to work around the house. Oma winterized the Dahlia's, Dad started mowing the lawn and the boys and I started in the garden. They picked all the squash and pumpkins in garden while I worked on digging out the pumpkin out from under the water tank. Eventually we ended up clearing the whole garden area and throwing the debris in the compost. We also caught grasshoppers and played on the playground. The corn field next to Grandma's was perfect for taking some pictures.
Tuesday morning we were invited to breakfast. After a fabulous spread we went outside to watch the farmers work. He was emptying the corn from the bin to a semi trailer to take into town. The corn was low enough that he opened the hatch and let us crawl around in the corn. Nathaniel was pretending to swim in it! It was so fun, and such a sweet memory for me of when I was 6 back at Grandpa's farm playing in his corn bin. They also let us play on the tractors.
Wednesday we had a little play date with my cousin's cousins. There were 6 kids under the age of 4. It was crazy but a lot of fun. They all played really well together and ended up back by the corn bins filling baggies of corn and soy beans. Oh the fun you can have on a farm!
Later that day stopped in Brookings to visit the Children's Museum and my cousin Matt before going back to Sioux Falls to pick up Daddy from the airport. Logan loved the lifelike Dinosaurs because he knew their feet were glued to the floor.
