5 year Anniversary

Wow how time flies. We have been married for 5 years! We were feeling rather sick on the actual Anniversary day but this weekend Mom and Dad came over to watch Nathaniel so we could go out for dinner. We had a nice time. It was amazing to me what we have accomplished in the last five years when we started to reminisce.

Nathaniel had a great time with Oma and Papa Jim and was not fussy at all.... although he did require undivided attention from them which was a little hard with such an exciting Blazer game last night. Nathaniel also got to meet a visitor from Nebraska (Flat Stanely) who is a good friend of my cousin Rachel.

2 Month picture

Last week I took Nathaniel in for his 2 month pictures. I want to take them each month and they are only $3.99 if you can resist the sales pitch! Anyway, he was much happier this time and actually laughed for the photographer. They took quite a few shots and then asked if we could do a few diaper shots. So I started taking off his cute outfit only to find there had been a blast I was unaware of. We put him in a fresh diaper before going any further with the photo shoot. The photographer assured me this wasn't the first blow out he'd seen.

Woodburn Tulip Fields

We did not let our runny noses stop us from visiting the Tulip Fields this week and meeting up with my dear friend Stephanie. She had not seen Nathaniel yet. He gave her a few smiles in between naps. I love tulips. They are my favorite flower. I love the varieties they have in Woodburn. We walked up and down the rows and then enjoyed a fabulous picnic lunch.

Weathering a cold

The weather has been so nice the last few days.... but we have been inside. I started feeling sick (head cold) this weekend. We haven't had a good nights sleep since Saturday. We are back to waking up every hour and a half or so. Nathaniel started showing symptoms Monday night. His eye had a lot of drainage and he started sneezing/coughing. It's so sad to see him not feeling well. I called the advice nurse and she said that as long as he is still smiling/talking and doesn't have a high fever he will be okay. They said the best way to take his temperature is through the rectum. Eewwww! Nobody said anything about that when I applied for mommyhood. We have been using our forehead scanner thermometer for now. He sounds so congested. We've been trying to keep his nose clean with that little bulb nose cleaner.... a bit of a challenge with a wiggly baby. Last night I held him all night long so he could sleep upright. I'm so tired today. Ken says he's not feeling well today. Our little guy seems to be doing much better though. Guess we have started the family cold sharing cycle that I've heard comes with kids.

My smiley boy

We used to just talk in the morning but over the last few days he has had more to say. I'm not sure what he is saying but we definitely reciprocate with a similar sound to the one he gives us.

Never wake a sleeping baby

Especially when they are this cute... take a picture first! We let Nathaniel crawl into bed with mommy and daddy in the morning when he wakes up. He usually snoozes (and we snuggle him) while we take turns getting ready for the day.

Not everyone can be a morning person

Actually Nathaniel is happiest in the morning... but this was a funny picture. I love his hair!
