Kindegarten roundup!
Confessions from a Momma. I'm not ready to send that sweet little boy off to school! How do mom's do it? I've got about 6 months to get on board here. I walked in to that gymnasium with my 5 year old holding tight to my hand. I'm sure I was holding on just a tight. He told me he would not leave my side and go to the classroom by himself. I tried to be brave and tell him how fun it would be to go with the teacher and check out the classroom. Desperately trying to keep an excited tone and not let on about my own hesitation. I'm sure I will look back on this day in a couple of years (when it's Logan's turn) and not think twice about it. But for now, I put on my brave face. One of the teachers came by and introduced herself as the "red" teacher. She said in a few minutes they would call all the kids to line up behind the teacher and go off to check out the classroom. The teacher was nice. It was all Nate needed. Ten minutes later they asked the kids to meet over by the door. Nate was first in line. Didn't look back once to say goodbye. Oh mom heart, stay strong, stay brave! The principal introduced us to the general information that was included in the packet they already sent home. She seemed nice... put my heart at ease a bit more. In no time Nate was back in the gymnasium with the rest of the kids to come get us and take us to the classroom. He showed us the square he cut out and we looked around a bit. Then off to celebrate this big step with ice cream. I might add that he can't wait for September to start school. He already tells everyone he is in Kindergarten. Now if I can get fully on board!
Everything is awesome
Or so the LEG0 movie says so. It's kind of a catchy tune. A local bookstore was promoting the movie and hosted an "event" where the kids got to build (and take home) a special creation. Each kid received a number and went up to the table to choose a handful of Legos to take back to the floor and create a masterpiece. Nate and Daddy made a pretty cool vehicle. Logan had fun tinkering and ended up with a makeshift car with only two wheels (since that was what was left by the time his number came up). It was lots of fun and we were able to do it with some friends of ours. As for the movie itself, it was good. So fun to watch the boys laugh throughout the movie.
