Clackamas Safety Fair
Okay, in all honesty I went to the safety fair for the $5 bike helmets. I was surprised at all the cool safety booths and the fact that hardly anyone was there! There was a little train that took kids on a ride through the parking lot. The boys got to go on a school bus (and talk to that one for that matter!). There was a dump truck and a boom truck. An adult go-cart racetrack (promoting DUI awareness/safety), police motorcyles, and a kid racetrack promoting sign saftey. Inside the mall we fingerprinted the boys and made a missing child saftey packet. We left with a ton of stickers, tatoos, and trinkets. We even stuck around to win a free bike (we got the teddy bear instead).
Pinatas
Somewhere we got an idea to create our own pinatas. We started with a ballon and paper mache. Once it was dried we painted it and stuffed it with candy. But we didn't have any string. Well, we found some in the garage but it was really thin and by the time we hung it up it started slipping off the string and splat on the ground just as Nate was taking his first swing.
So we tried again. Determined to make a strong pinata. For the last 3 weeks we have had two ballons, scraps of newspaper and tissue paper, container of paper mache, paints and paint brushes at the ready littering our kitchen. I didn't expect us to take this long. But yesterday was the long awaited day for us to crush the pinata with the baseball bat. We put 4 layers of paper mache on the ballons so it was quite sturdy. We purchased some thicker string and we painted the finished product. I think the boys would say stuffing them with candy was their favorite part. Such an exciting activity demands an audience, so we went over to Oma's house.
Turns out I probably made the pinata's a little too strong for the boys to break them on thier own. But they did have fun.... and even got to eat 2 pieces of candy. I think I'll save the rest for the next adventure.
Swimming
That's what we've been up to. Last two weeks, we've been poolside at the club from 4pm till 8pm. It's been so hot and the boys love swimming. It's even a little break for us, if there are other kids and their parents are in the water too! Logan did try to slip under the water two times last week. He just kept going deeper and deeper after his big brother. Just a reminder we still have to keep close tabs on him. Thankfully Daddy was on top of it! Daddy tried to shake it off be "tossing" Logan high. Why do Daddies insist on doing these crazy stunts????? Glad everyone was smiling at the end.

Oaks Park
We told the boys at the county fair that instead of riding lots of rides there, we would take them to Oaks Park in a few days. Boy did they have fun today! We met up with Oma and Papa Jim and a friend from college with her two girls and husband.
And of course the outing would not be complete without a cheeseburger!
Another County Fair
We missed the Demolition Derby at the fair a few weeks ago so we went to the Clark County Fair this last week. The boys were talking about the Demolition Derby ALL DAY LONG. They were super excited. Traffic was terrible getting there, but we made it with enough time to ride one of the 'kid' rides. Then we found our seats in the grandstands. The boys were glued to the area floor watching all those cars run into each other. Very exciting. One of the cars caught on fire, many of them were smoking at the end. They even did a round of Motror homes driving into each other till only one was left standing. Afterwards we took a look at the animals too.
Big Truck Day 2012
Running as fast as we can to Big Truck Day. The boys loved getting in the big trucks and honking the horns and pushing all the levers. I forgot the earmuffs so it was a bit loud. We took a little time out to play on the playground and meet up with some buddies. After a few more truck visits we had a little picnic and then ran wild with our friends till it was nap time.

Birthday Boy
My little boy turned 2!!!! We had a fun little party at the park. The kids enjoyed enjoyed playing in the water fountain. My mom even got in on the fun. There was also a small water fight with cups near the water jug... Uncle Stevie was last seen with water jug full of ice... not sure who got it on their head :-)
