Christmas Morning
Choo-choo!
Nathaniel loves trains (doesn't every little boy?) Well, a friend from high school called and offered to give us their gently used train. What was the catch? It take s up quite a bit of storage space and it has a loud horn (she told me it was broken though). It sounded like something we should at least consider it so we picked it up the week before Christmas. We set up the train by the Christmas tree and Christmas morning, Nate came down the stairs and said Choo-choo! He loves it! We moved the track into the kitchen so it would run a bit smoother. Nate got to help put the track down.
Puppies!
Every morning Nathaniel wakes up and says "puppies, puppies, puppies!" until we finally say it's time to get up and go downstairs. For Mom and Dad seeing the puppies, means starting the day, cleaning up the poop from the night, and making the puppy chow in the blender (stinky!). For Nathaniel (and Logan) it means sitting on the couch and watching Daddy let the puppies out of the room. While he cleans/mops the room out (Yes, I found out Ken has this hidden skill! Look out Honey, you've demonstrated competence!) Nathaniel likes to sit on the couch and point at the puppies. He is so excited! We have named each of them and he will call out their names... Brownie! Popcorn! Chunkers! Snowball! The first few days he would only reach at them when they ran by the couch. Recently we have started "racing" the puppies and he is getting braver while we run over to the stairs and back before they can catch up to him and nip at him until he can climb back on the couch.
While these puppies are super cute, I'm certain that we won't be getting a dog anytime soon. It's a good thing Nathaniel is having so much fun... because Mom and Dad think it's A LOT OF WORK!

Christmas with the Tuttles
We celebrated Christmas a day early this year with my family. The Prime Rib was fabulous. Mom always makes the best dinners!
Looks like someone was peeking while we were praying!
Nathaniel has taken to drawing and this was the best present ever! I quickly told Mom he didn't need to open anything else... let him just enjoy the new toy. We opened a few others on Christmas Day.
Sunglasses were a huge hit for Nathaniel. Thanks Uncle Stevie & Aunt Betsy
Logan's first look at a present, very exciting!

Holding down the fort
Ken is off for the week and we have been busy. We offered to be a PDX shuttle for our friends, get the mail/take out the garbage for 2 of our neighbors and dog sit/house sit for our favorite lab and her 4 puppies (5 weeks old). What were we thinking? As if two babies weren't challenging enough :-)
Bonk!
I think we are in the 'season' of getting bumps and bruises. It seems like everyday Nathaniel is getting another bonk on his head :-( I really don't think there is anything I can do about it... considering a helmet though. He was just getting over a nasty yellowing bruise in the middle of his head... and today another one. Oh well. I better get used to it, being a Momma of two boys.

Santa
Nana came down and took the boys to see Santa with their cousin Lilli. The line was painfully long at Washington Square, but the weather was too gross outside to go anywhere else. Logan was pretty comfortable in Santa's arms. Nathaniel on the other hand, was fine standing next to Santa but did not want to sit in his lap and once Santa extended his arm and touched his shoulder he was done.
The boys were totally exhausted when we got home and Nathaniel has not stopped saying "Santa Claus" since. Quite the afternoon.

Black Friday
I took the boys with me shopping on Black Friday... we didn't get out of the house till just before 11am. I knew I had missed all the deals when there were no lines to wade through to get to the merchandise and all the donuts and juice were gone :-( Oh well it made it a little easier with the boys with me. Plus, Nate found a shopping cart to push around next to me.

Who doesn't like to like the spatula?
I made possibly the BEST cookies ever this last week (it was like a chocolate brownie with mint chips! mmmm) and of course offered the spatula to Nathaniel when I was finished. 15 minutes worth of quiet time... Yes it was worth it.
Here's my recipe
2 pkg (16 squares) of Bakers' Semi-sweet Baking Chocolate
3/4 C packed brown sugar
1/4 C Butter or margarine
2 Eggs
1 tsp Vanilla
1/2 C Flour
1/4 tsp Baking Powder
Coarsely chop 1 pkg of Baking Chocolate and set aside. Microwave the remaining pkg (8 squares) of chocolate for 2 minutes. Stir until melted and smooth. Stir in sugar butter, eggs, and vanilla. Stir in flour and baking powder. Stir in the reserved chopped chocolate. Drop by 1/4 cupfuls onto an ungreased cookie sheet. Bake for 12 minutes or until cookies are puffed and feel set. Cool for 1 minute on baking sheet then transfer to a wire rack.

Tummy Time
Step stool
Nathaniel's new best friend... He found out he can move this piece of furniture on his own quite easily and has been putting it near the computer to sit next to mom or Dad or over by the door to look out the back window. He brought it into the kitchen and set it down right by the fridge... now he can reach the buttons for the light and ice/water dispenser! Fortunately it was on ice mode and he has not discovered that button. That will be an exciting day!

Grocery shopping
I'm a bit surprised it took this long to discover the car attached to the cart as we are always in and out of a grocery store. On this particular day I was just going to run in and drop a letter off at the post office inside the store. When Nathaniel saw this cart I knew we were going to have to roam the store for a while to let him enjoy the experience. It was quite entertaining.
When its raining.... go play at Costco
